In loving memory of

Joyce Mannix

MANNIX, Joyce (nee Hoban)

Joyce or “Joycie” as she preferred, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Archer Village in the early hours of Tuesday May 19, 2026. Joycie was very proud of having achieved 97 years on this earth, and prided herself on being ‘a very happy person’. She was constantly amazed at having lived so long and her age was a common topic of conversation leading to many a humorous discussion. Joyce was the dearly loved wife of the late William (Bill) Mannix. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Michael (deceased) and Linda, Paul and Carol Ann (Florida) and Kevin and Sue (Tasmania.) Her grandchildren were very special to her and she loved seeing and hearing the latest news of, Taryn and Haidee, Lauren and Chris (USA) and Elysia and Daniel (Australia) and their partners and all her extra special great grandchildren. Loved daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Ellen Hoban. A loved sister of Mary, Maurice, Joe and Doreen. Joycie also held a cherished position as special aunty to her many nieces and nephews. Joycie always took great delight in welcoming those who were able to come visit or call her and her smile would light up the room at the sight of a familiar face or voice. She had a wicked sense of humour that did not dim despite her advanced years and all visits ended in cheeky laughter. Special thanks to her niece Paula Lloyd who was her number one companion, decision maker and confidante over many years. Many thanks to the staff at Archer Retirement Village who cared for and befriended Joyce and Bill in their residency over 26 years.  A very special lady who will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune to know or meet her. Messages to the Mannix Family c/- PO Box 26051 North Avon, Christchurch 8148. In line with Joycie’s wishes a private cremation has taken place. Her Ashes will be interred at a family occasion in her treasured Hawarden later in the year at a date to be notified.
