LORD, Jillian Meryl QSM, DLJ, FNZFHS, Dip Lib Studies.  “Jill” (nee Grieve):

Patron of the Family History Society of New Zealand.

On April 21, 2026, peacefully at Christchurch Hospital following a short illness, bravely fought. In her 86th year.

Adored wife and inspiration to Trevor, mother to Gerard, Caroline, and the late James, mother-in-law to Sharon and Tim, and beloved Nana to Ella, Joshua, and Ernest. Sister to Penny and Roger, and sister-in-law to Angela, Murray, Claire, and Janet.

A businesswoman and patron of the arts, Jill made a huge contribution to genealogy, local history, and preservation of local built heritage. She was a long-time supporter of the Court Theatre and was a life-long community volunteer.

The family would like to thank staff at Ngaio Marsh Village, Merivale Retirement Village, Access Community Health, and Ward 15 at Christchurch Hospital for their excellent support and care of Jill.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Jill’s life will be held at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Oxford Terrace, Christchurch Central, at 10.00am on Saturday, May 2, 2026, to be followed by a private cremation.
