Passed away, peacefully at home on Tuesday April 29, 2025 with his loving wife by his side, aged 89 years. Loved husband of Deirdre (Dee) with whom he enjoyed 65 years of wonderful married life. Treasured father and father-in-law to Andrea and Peter Gleadow (Canada), Chris and Sue Lynch, Tim and Jo Lynch, Matt and Jane Lynch, Mary-Jeanne (MJ) Lynch, Margot Lynch and Stephane Laurent (Scotland), Damian and Rebecca Lynch. Proud Grandfather, story-teller and ‘Tom’ to Kate, Ellen and Madison, Christopher, Olivia, Sophie, Xavier and Maggie, Harrison, April and Mark, Hannah and Bradley, Tyler, Emma, Tom, Charlotte, Finn, Charlie and Ava.

Brother to Mary, Irma, Francis (SM Pauline OP), Hugh, Aidan (all deceased) and Angela Shields.

From Dunedin to Invercargill, Wanaka, Christchurch and Burlington Village. Tom loved his family, faith and his many, many friends.

As Tom always said, he lived an ‘absolutely bloody marvelous life’. His greatest achievement in life was his family and he was so proud of all his kids’ achievements.

Tom’s family invite you to celebrate his life with a Requiem Mass at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Manchester Street, Christchurch on Monday 5th May 10.30am followed by a service and committal at The Holy Family Church, Aubrey Road, Wānaka on Wednesday 7th May 11.30am.
